NEVER Openweight Title Changes Hands, KENTA Issues Challenge to Jon Moxley at NJPW Power Struggle

During the NJPW Power Struggle event held this Saturday, KOPW 2020 Champion Toro Yano successfully defended his title against Zack Saber Jr.

The match had a “No Corner Pad” stipulation and the two men took full advantage of the fact that they could drive their opponent into exposed turnbuckles.

In the end, as the two men were fighting outside the ring, Yano was able to tie Saber Jr. to a guardrail by his bootlaces which ensured that he won the match via countout.

During the event, Shingo Takagi beat Minoru Suzuki to become the new NEVER Openweight Champion.

Takagi delivered the “Last of the Dragon” to Suzuki to get a clean pin and become the new champion. With his wind over Suzuki, this is now the second time Takagi has held the NEVER Openweight Challenge.

Also contested during the event was the IWGP US Championship Match Contract. The current holder of the contract, KENTA successfully retained against Hiroshi Tanahashi.

The contract gives KENTA the rights to a future IWGP US Championship, which is currently held by AEW’s Jon Moxley.

After the event, KENTA took to Twitter to challenge the “absent” champion.

“Where is Jon Moxley?” wrote KENTA. “HERE I AM.”
