New Match Announced for NXT Takeover XXX, Dexter Lumis to Miss The PPV

The build for NXT Takeover XXX continued this week, with several storyline advancements on NXT TV. The Ladder Match for the North American Championship continued to find new participants, as Damian Priest took down Ridge Holland and Oney Lorcan to qualify for the matchup.

Damian Priest joins Bronson Reed in the match, with three more participants scheduled to join in the upcoming weeks. Dexter Lumis, who won his Triple Threat encounter last week, was ruled out of the match due to an injury. Lumis submitted Timothy Thatcher in the triple threat last week, which also involved Finn Balor.

The third participant will be determined next week with Kushida, Cameron Grimes and a mystery opponent taking part in the final triple threat matchup.

William Regal announced that the final two spots will be determined via two singles matches, taking place between the four competitors who were neither pinned nor submitted in their respective qualifying matchups.

Finn Balor, Johhny Gargano, and Ridge Holland along with the loser from next week will take part in those matchups.

Dakota Kai secured a spot at Takeover for the NXT Women’s Championship, after defeating Rhea Ripley in singles action. A distraction from the newest Robert Stone Brand member, Mercedes Martinez, was enough for Kai to hit the GTK for the pinfall.

Karrion Kross vs Keith Lee wasn’t confirmed for the Takeover, but the two continued their feud this week.

Pat McAfee attacked Adam Cole with a Punt Kick this week, which could lead to a match between the two at Takeover. Although McAfee isn’t a professional wrestler, they could have a match-up of sorts on either Takeover or an NXT episode.
