When it comes to influential women’s wrestlers over the past few years, Nikki Bella has to be one of the women in that list. The former Divas Champion hasn’t stepped into a WWE ring since she lost to Ronda Rousey last year at WWE Evolution and revealed earlier this year that she was supposed to return but couldn’t because of a cyst on her brain.
Nikki and Brie were part of Raw 25 last year, but they were notable absentees last night since the company brought back the likes of Kaitlyn, Jillian Hall, Torrie Wilson, Melina, Candice Michelle and Alundra Blayze which was something of a switch up.
John Cena was able to make an appearance as part of last night’s show but left the arena as soon as his segment with Rikishi and The Usos was over, but Nikki and Brie were not part of the show in any form.
The longest reigning Divas Champion in WWE history took to Instagram to explain to her fanbase why she and Brie were not in attendance last night in Tampa.
Bella’s cyst on her brain is reportedly benign, which is why she refuses to give up hope that she will be able to return to the ring in the future.
WWE’s original plan was for Nikki and Brie to return to challenge The IIconics following their WrestleMania Women’s Tag Team Championship win back in April but Nikki Bella wasn’t cleared to return in time.
The Women’s Tag Team Championships are the most overlooked titles in the company right now, so it’s hoped that at some point The Bellas can make their return if only to lift the reputation of the titles since they have been somewhat forgotten ever since The IIconics won the Championships from Bayley and Sasha Banks.
