Aleister Black was originally set to fight for the NXT Championship in a triple threat match back at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn, but he was mysteriously attacked in the parking lot at Full Sail University back in August and was then unable to fulfill his contractual obligations.
The match went ahead as a Last Man Standing match between Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa instead, but the hunt for the mysterious parking lot attacker has continued over the past few months with the main men being seen as Lars Sullivan, Velveteen Dream and of course Kassius Ohno.
This attack was set up as a way to write Black off WWE TV so that he could undergo surgery, but he is now fit enough to make his return and extract some revenge.
As part of last night’s TV tapings, William Regal made his way to the ring to announce Tomasso Ciampa’s opponent for Takeover: War Games, when he was interrupted by Velveteen Dream and Lars Sullivan.
This then led to Aleister Black making his way out since Nikki Cross already told The Dutchman who attacked him last week, he was attacked by none other than Johnny Gargano, which confirmed that it was Johnny Wrestling who attacked him back in August as a way to take him out of their title match.

Gargano has been going through a number of issues in NXT over the past few months, ever since January when Ciampa made his return and targeted his former teammate and it appears that this could have finally tipped him over the edge as a new attitude has begun to surface and an epic feud between Gargano and Black is now expected, heading into War Games.
