WWE NXT has been given a huge boost over the past few months, ever since the developmental brand was moved over to live TV on the USA Network, it put many NXT stars in the spotlight and has allowed most of the roster to thrive.
One star who has stood out for NXT in recent weeks is Shayna Baszler, even though the Submission Magician is now a former NXT Women’s Champion after losing her title to Rhea Ripley a few weeks ago. Back at Survivor Series, WWE built up a feud between RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Baszler that the company can cash in on at any time.
While Lynch already has a challenger at Royal Rumble in the form of Women’s Tag Team Champion Asuka, there could be a much bigger plan for Baszler since she is currently the favorite to win the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble.
Many fans believe that this year would see Ronda Rousey return at Royal Rumble and pick up where she left off in her feud with Becky Lynch following her first-ever loss in a WWE ring to Lynch back at WrestleMania 35. As the Royal Rumble edges closer, it seems that this is becoming less likely and Sky Bet instead currently lists Baszler as the favorite to win the third annual match.
Despite looking unlikely to make her return, Ronda Rousey is still the second favorite to win the match with 4/1 odds closely followed by NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley who has 9/1 odds.
Both Asuka and Becky Lynch have already won the accolade of being Women’s Royal Rumble victors, now that Baszler no longer has the NXT Women’s Championship around her waist, there is nothing stopping her from moving up to the main roster and gaining some form of revenge against Becky Lynch for that attack back in November.
