Rhea Ripley defended her NXT Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair in Portland as part of NXT’s first-ever solo Takeover event and even though The Nightmare was able to successfully retain her Championship against The EST of NXT, Charlotte Flair was waiting in the wings to challenge the Champion following the match.

In recent weeks, Rhea Ripley has made her way over to RAW where she laid down the challenge to The Queen and then awaited her response. Flair headed to NXT a few weeks later with many fans expecting an answer, but instead the former 10-time Women’s Champion was attacked by both Belair and Ripley which lead to speculation that a triple threat match could be on the agenda.

There were rumors heading into tonight’s show that Flair was in attendance and would make her presence known and Flair waited until Ripley was able to get past Belair to make her mark. The Queen attacked Ripley from behind before confirming that she was accepting her challenge for a match at WrestleMania.

Charlotte then delivered Natural Selection to Ripley to send her a clear message less than two months prior to their first-ever showdown. Before leaving the arena, Flair then threw Bianca Belair into the steel steps at ringside after the EST of NXT was spotted as she was getting back to her feet on the outside.

This could have been revenge for the sneak attack that Flair was part of a few weeks ago on NXT, or it could be a hint that even though Belair lost her match to Ripley tonight via The Riptide, there could be another huge match in her future.

Right now it’s unknown whether or not the match will be a triple threat or a singles match, what is currently known is that Charlotte Flair will be challenging for the NXT Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 36.
