NXT Takeover: XXX – Adam Cole Defeats Pat McAfee

Pat McAfee made his debut in a WWE ring against one of NXT’s best competitors in Adam Cole. The former NXT Champion was on the back foot for much of the match as McAfee proved that he was the master of mind games and he had learned some skills ahead of his debut.

Given the abuse that McAfee had given Cole in recent weeks, he had to back up some of his words as part of the pay-per-view.

The Undisputed Era and McAfee’s posse even became involved at one point, which is where the former NFL player was able to show off his agility with a version of a Swanton off the top rope that took out all six stars.

McAfee looked as though he was about to win the match after he delivered the kick which was reminiscent of a few weeks ago on NXT, but Cole kicked out at two.

Adam Cole managed to find his groove midway through the match and after moving out the way of a kick from McAfee and allowing him to kick the steel steps, he took the opening and delivered a kick of his own followed by Panama Sunrise in order to silence the former NFL star after weeks of abuse.

Is this the end of the feud between Cole and McAfee and if it is, where does this leave the former NXT Champion in as part of WWE’s third brand moving forward?
