<p>Keith Lee&#8217;s famous win back at The Great American Bash meant that he was unable to hold and defend both the North American Championship and the NXT Championship.</p>



<p>Lee opted to vacate NXT&#8217;s youngest Championship and at Takeover: XXX five men battled it out for the right to call themselves the new Champion. </p>

<p>Johnny Gargano and Velveteen Dream were fighting for the chance to become the first stars to hold the title more than once, while Damian Priest, Bronson Reed, and Cameron Grimes were looking to lift their first titles in NXT.</p>



<p>It was a show-stealing match as all five men threw everything they had into the ring and at one point Candice LeRae even came down to the ring to help Johnny Gargano, when it appeared as though Grimes was about to win the title. </p>

<p>LeRae was taken out of the equation when Reed delivered a splash from the top of the ladder with her on his back.</p>



<p>This left Gargano to fight alone and after Dream was taken out of the equation when he flew into the audience there was only Priest and Gargano left at the top of the ladder.</p>



<p>The former Champion lost his balance while trying to hold on to the title and fell, leaving The Archer of Infamy there to take his first NXT Championship in one of the most manic matches in NXT history. </p>
