On March 7, 2018, NXT General Manager, William Regal announced at Full Sail University TV Tapings that the brand will reveal a new singles title at the NXT “Takeover: New Orleans” – The NXT North American Championship. The Takeover is scheduled to air live during Wrestlemania 34 weekend, precisely on April 7, 2018.

According to PWInsider, a Six-Man Ladder Match to crown the first ever NXT North American Champion at Takeover: New Orleans  will feature EC3, Adam Cole, Ricochet, Velveteen Dream, Lars Sullivan and Killian Dain inside the squared circle.

NXT Takeover: New Orleans which takes place on April 7, 2018 at the Smoothie King Center will be hosting the following matches as per Wednesday night’s tapings:

  • Andrade “Cien” Almas (c) vs. Aleister Black for the NXT Championship
  • Ember Moon (c) vs. Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Championship
  • The Undisputed Era vs. Roderick Strong & Pete Dunne vs. Authors of Pain in Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals for the NXT Tag Team Championship

EC3 vs. Adam Cole vs. Ricochet vs. Velveteen Dream vs. Lars Sullivan vs. Killian Dain in a Six-Man Ladder Match for the NXT North American Championship
