Oklahoma Open To Holding Wrestling Shows Again, Mick Foley Wants Nancy Benoit In Hall Of Fame

Oklahoma Open To Holding Wrestling Shows Again

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt is talking about opening his state for business again and has said that one of his plans to generate revenue is to host sporting events again– including professional wrestling.

Stitt wants to bring back professional wrestling, mixed martial arts, and boxing events to Oklahoma. He hopes to generate revenue for the state with ticket sales to these events.

According to Stitt, the reopening of businesses and events in Oklahoma will be done “carefully” but no guidelines, as to how that will be, have been released.

Currently, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has said that large sporting events could now be held in the state as long as they follow social distancing guidelines. The events should also limit their audience capacity to 25 percent.

Given Florida’s guidelines, both the WWE and AEW can technically put up shows in Florida with limited fans starting next week. As of the writing of this post, there’s no word if WWE or AEW does indeed plan to start with limited audience shows in Florida.

Mick Foley Makes Pitch For Hall Of Fame Induction For Nancy Benoit

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley would like to see Nancy Benoit also inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

While Benoit’s name is now forever linked to her tragic death at the hands of her husband Chris Benoit, she was an influential figure in professional wrestling in her own right, argues Foley.

Nancy Benoit mostly worked in WCW as both a valet and a wrestler. She was known as the Woman and Fallen Angel.

“For her work as Fallen Angel, I believe she deserves to be included,” wrote Foley in a Facebook post.

“For her work as Woman during her first run in WCW – when she feuded with Rick Steiner, managed Doom, and managed The 4 Horsemen – I believe she deserves to be included. For her run in ECW, and her second run with WCW – where she helped create a fascinating angle that blurred the line between storyline and reality – I believe she deserves to be included.”
