One of the coolest surprises at this year’s Royal Rumble was the return of Rey Mysterio! For fans who had not been following what he has been doing since he left the WWE, he must have looked in the best shape they had ever seen him in.

Well, Sports Illustrated‘s Justin Barrasso sent out an interesting Tweet about Rey Mysterio being backstage at this week’s Smackdown where he was working out details for a special return to the WWE. While no details on the length of this return were given, Barrasso did make the statement that his opponent could be none other than John Cena!

This would be pretty cool and while John Cena has, of course, earned himself a spot in the WWE Title match at Fastlane. His WrestleMania plans are still not set in stone. While there is not much story to this, we personally think that this would be a fun addition and a special attraction to add at this year’s WrestleMania. While Rey coming back full time might not be on the cards, there is no doubt that the WWE will love the idea of having a whole bunch of new Rey Mysterio merch out there.
