Paige was once the hottest prospect in the Women’s Division for WWE when she became the youngest Divas Champion at just 21 years old. Before this, Paige made history when she became the first-ever NXT Women’s Champion and helped to kickstart the women’s revolution which later caught onto the main roster.
Sadly, Paige went from strength to strength in WWE before she was handed a cruel turn of fate. The British star struggled with neck injuries for a number of years as well as many personal problems but returned to the ring in November 2017 alongside Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville as Absolution.
This was after Paige had been sidelined for more than a year when she underwent neck surgery, but merely months later she was forced to retire from in-ring competition when she was injured at a house show by Sasha Banks.
It was heartbreaking for the star that had wrestled ever since she could walk, but she was given the role of SmackDown General Manager before she moved on to manage the Kabuki Warriors.
Paige was fired by Asuka on Raw this past week when she was hit with the green mist by the now heel Kabuki Warriors, which lead to rumors that this could be the beginning of Paige’s return.
The former Champion was forced to address these rumors on Social Media by pointing out that she was still struggling with spinal stenosis, which means that it’s hard for her to be cleared for in-ring competition. So much so that there was a rumor that Paige wanted Asuka to lock her in the Asuka lock on Raw instead, but the medical team refused to clear her to be part of any action.
It has been a sad few years for Paige, but it’s hoped that following her dismissal from The Kabuki Warriors, WWE will find another place for her in the company.
