The latest tag team entry in WWE’s Women’s Division was made by former GM Paige during this year’s Superstar Shake-Up.

Paige made her TV return with Asuka and Kairi Sane – her new tag team with eyes locked on the Women’s Tag Team Titles that are currently held by The IIconics.

On the lastest Money In The Bank go-home edition of SmackDown Live, Paige revealed the new teg team name for Asuka and Sane. Going forward, both Japanese Superstars will be together known as Kabuki Warriors.

WWE has a habit of drawing names from pop culture or former wrestlers and The Kabuki Warriors seem to be a mix between the “Warrior Princess Asuka” video game and retired Japanese pro wrestler The Great Kabuki.

Kabuki (real name Akihisa Mera) earned a name for himself for being the first to blow “Asian mist” in his opponents’ faces in his 50+ years in the ring.

It is to be noted that WWE also named The Great Khali after The Great Kabuki.

What’s interesting is that Kabuki Warriors was the title of a 2001 video game that is still considered as the worst games of all time. Given the game got buried soon after its release, WWE might have decided to pick up the title and slam it on Asuka and Sane under the belief that fans would think it’s an original act.

Kabuki Warriors defeated Fire & Desire (Mandy Rose and Sony Deville) in tag team action last night in London. This is the second straight victory for the Japanese women as a team.

WWE hasn’t yet booked Kabuki Warriors for Money In The Bank, nor are The IIconics slated to defend the Women’s Tag Team Championship this Sunday. However, both teams could still be booked in a title match for the event with WWE making the announcement official on social media.
