Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns’ pairing has recently crossed over 2 months. Both Superstars started working together since The Big Dog returned at SummerSlam 2020.
His heel run as the Universal Champion and the alliance with Paul Heyman has taken Friday Night SmackDown by storm. But these two were long paired than what is being shown on WWE television.
Speaking to Metro, Heyman revealed that WWE had been planning to do something like this ever since the Universal Champion made his main roster debut as part of The Shield.
He even exaggerated it by saying “this has been in the works since the day Roman Reigns was born”.
“Now if you review how Roman Reigns debuted on the main roster, it was just about eight years ago to the day where Roman Reigns debuted as part of The Shield, and The Shield was brought in by Paul Heyman to protect the title reign of the then champion CM Punk,” Heyman explained.
“So this has been in the works ever since Roman Reigns debuted on the main roster and I would dare say this has been in the works since the day Roman Reigns was born.”
“So, what do I like about it? Every single solitary thing about it, I like. How long has it been in the works? Really since the beginning of time, as Roman Reigns knows it to be.”
