Plans for WWE to expand in Japan, by launching NXT Japan, have been put on hold.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE’s plans for NXT Japan are on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The pandemic will also put on hold, any other plans by WWE to open the NXT brand in any other countries as well. Once the pandemic is under control and the economy has recovered, WWE will pick up their plans to expand NXT into more international markets.
One of the hottest storylines on SmackDown right now is the developing relationship between Mandy Rose and Otis of Heavy Machinery.
During an interview on TV Series Hub, Rose revealed that she was the one who talked to Vince McMahon into making a fun little thing on NXT, a storyline on SmackDown.
“Otis always was around in NXT and posting pics of me and talking about how much he liked me. In a cute way, not a creepy way. This continued on and I thought it would be great if this became a storyline”, recalls Rose.
In another interview, this time with ComicBook.com, Rose spoke about how the storyline grew till Otis had a WrestleMania 36 match where he beat Dolph Ziggler and got a sweet kiss from Rose.
“We didn’t really know that it was going to be this huge, and it’s really awesome and I’m really grateful and happy about it,” said Rose.
“I think in these times too, it’s nice to see such a happy ending for our fans and be able to perform and be able to demonstrate that,” she added.
