Original Plans for Asuka have reportedly changed

WrestleMania 35 is mere weeks away and while the Raw Women’s Championship match is now all wrapped up, over on SmackDown Live it’s a little different.

Asuka successfully defended her Women’s Championship against Mandy Rose back at Fastlane and the storyline looks to be heading towards a triple threat match also involving Sonya Deville at WrestleMania, which means that the company’s plan has changed.

According to The Wrestling Observer, the original plan was for Asuka to defend against Lacey Evans at The Biggest Event of the Year, but the fact that Evans is still yet to have a singles match on the main roster means that this is no longer the case.

The Empress of Tomorrow has already defeated both Rose and Deville on singles matches, so right now it wouldn’t make any sense for them to challenge her for the title, but this could change if one of the women are able to pin her next week on SmackDown Live and earn themselves a huge opportunity at WrestleMania next month.

Kurt Angle’s opponent is one of six men

Kurt Angle will retire at WrestleMania 35 next month, but while his match has been announced his opponent is still up in the air. There have been many rumors surrounding Angle’s opponent for his final wrestling match, including the likes of John Cena and Baron Corbin who are seen as heavy favorites to face the wrestling legend right now.

The company has teased that Angle could be facing Samoa Joe, Cena, Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, Corbin or Drew McIntyre.

While it’s likely that Lashley will have a Championship match, Samoa Joe will have his own United States Championship match, McIntyre will face Roman Reigns and Shelton Benjamin will pick up a feud enroute to WrestleMania, these are the six guys that the company has put forward for the fans to vote on when it comes to Angle’s farewell match.

At present the most likely option does look to be Baron Corbin, but the fairytale ending for Kurt Angle would be for John Cena to come back and allow his career to come full circle, but only time will tell.
