James Ellsworth was fired from SmackDown Live a few weeks ago by General Manager Paige after he insulted her and it was thought that this was the last time Ellsworth would be seen for a while. That was until it was reported last night that Ellsworth was backstage at SmackDown and it was unknown as to why.

According to WrestlingInc, James Ellsworth was backstage to film a segment relating to the WWE Women’s Division, but it’s unknown as to whether or not this was for WWE Evolution or another DVD that the company is working on.

Ellsworth debuted in WWE as a jobber when Braun Strowman was being built as a monster on RAW back in 2016, but was later moved over to the SmackDown brand and became an integral part of the feud between Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles surrounding the WWE Championship but when this storyline came to an end, Carmella asked WWE if she could start working with Ellsworth.

He was then made the manager of Carmella and after he helped her to win the Money In The Bank contract, the duo went their separate ways.

The Princess of Staten Island was then in need of assistance at Money In The Bank earlier this year and Ellsworth appeared to help her to retain her SmackDown Women’s Championship.

It was only after Carmella’s feud with Asuka ended that Ellsworth realized that he was no longer needed and it’s highly unlikely that he will be needed again in the near future since Carmella has been teamed with R-Truth for the Mixed Match Challenge and the duo began their on-screen friendship last night on SmackDown.
