What was supposed to be a simple guest appearance at the San Diego Comic Con turned serious for current 24/7 Champion R-Truth.

Truth was a guest on IGN Live at SDCC 2019 when he found himself defending his title not just once but twice in quick succession. Luckily the 24/7 champion was able to overcome both challenges and left SDCC still the champion.

The first challenger for R-Truth’s title was former WWE European Champion, The Hurricane, who appeared with WWE referee John Cone. Truth didn’t seem to recognize the Hurricane or Cone who he thought were cosplaying fans. Truth tried to take a photo with the “fans” at which point Hurricane tried to quickly roll him up for the pinfall.

Truth kicked out and Hurricane left the scene. However, he was quickly challenged again, this time by persistent challenger Drake Maverick. Truth kicked out of Maverick’s pinning attempt and then quickly left the area with his championship.

Kofi Kingston Announces New Day Graphic Novel

Elsewhere at the SDCC, BOOM! Studios and the WWE announced, a new graphic novel starring The New Day is set to be released in 2020.

At The BOOM! Studios Discover Yours panel, WWE Champion and New Day Member Kofi Kingston made a surprise appearance to announce the new graphic novel. The graphic novel will chronicle the New Day’s early career through their ascent to becoming three of the most beloved superstars in the WWE.

“There are few modern WWE Superstars with a greater legacy than The New Day – and as they’ve shown this year, there’s no ceiling to what Kofi, Xavier and Big E can accomplish,” said Chris Rosa, Editor, BOOM! Studios.
