R-Truth has become one of the most popular stars in the company over the past few weeks since his run as 24/7 Champion has been the most entertaining thing on WWE TV for a while.
The former Champion has had two stints with WWE throughout his career with his most recent one being his most successful despite the fact that he has been misused for the past few years.
Truth left WWE back in 2002 and had a mildly successful stint with TNA where is a former World Champion, but he was re-signed by the company back in 2008 and has since become one of the most popular names in the company at the ripe old age of 47.
Truth recently appeared on Edge and Christian’s Podcast of Awesomeness where he was able to talk about his two stints with the company and even revealed that he thanked Vince McMahon for firing him back in 2002 because it helped him to grow as a person outside of the company.
“My second run back I was more than happy that I had that time away. I felt like a grown man when I came back. I actually told Vince that. He looked at me like I had two heads. I told him, hey man, thanks for firing me five years ago. He was like, huh? I told him that I had time to grow up and I needed that and that I wasn’t ready for working for WWE the first time around,” he said via WrestlingInc.
Truth and Drake Maverick are currently feuding over the 24/7 Championship which is allowing the social media team to have a lot of fun with their feud outside of WWE programming. Truth is already a nine-time 24/7 Champion and is expected to crash Maverick’s honeymoon in the coming weeks.
