Randy Orton and Edge to Be the First Two Entrants in the Men’s Royal Rumble

A special edition of WWE Backstage, centered on the 2021 Royal Rumble, was aired on FS1 on Saturday.

During the show, which featured the return of Renee Paquette as host along with Booker T and Paige, an announcement was made about the Men’s Royal Rumble.

The #1 and #2 entries for the 30-man Royal Rumble were revealed to be Randy Orton and Edge.

The announcement means that for a while at least, we will be getting yet another chapter in the most recent rivalry between the two men which began during the 2020 Royal Rumble.

Edge was a surprise entrant during the men’s Rumble, making it his first match since he retired in 2011. He initially had a cordial reunion with Orton, who he had formerly tagged with until Orton tried to eliminate him. Edge ultimately eliminated Orton who attacked him on Raw after Rumble.

This led to a Last Man Standing Match between the two men in WrestleMania 36, which Orton lost, and a singles match at Backlash, which Edge lost. Edge was also injured at Backlash and his return at the 2021 Royal Rumble will be his first match in seven months.
