NXT Takeover: In Your House took place on Sunday night and saw Tommaso Ciampa submit to Karrian Kross in the latter’s first Takeover match.
This was the first time that Ciampa had submitted in more than two years but throughout the match, it was made clear that Ciampa had to slap Karrion Kross’ leg in an attempt to make his move sound more impactful during their TakeOver match.
Randy Orton obviously picked up on this and sent out a Tweet referring to these leg slaps following the show.
Tommaso Ciampa has since responded to the Tweet to try to tell Orton that his wrestling is boring, but this wasn’t enough to deter Orton, who has since continued to take shots at NXT and even called Ciampa the “self-appointed locker room leader”.
This has since led to rumors that Orton and Ciampa could be stepping into an on-screen feud, but this reportedly isn’t the case.
Orton has seemingly gone after the NXT roster off his own back and given the language used, it’s unlikely that this is something that WWE is trying to push.
Following his recent loss to Kross, it’s unknown where this leaves Ciampa on NXT. Could Ciampa be one of the stars set for main roster promotion?
