A few weeks ago, Randy Orton shocked the pro wrestling industry by teasing a potential jump to AEW. The Viper tagged fellow Superstars, namely, Elias and The Revival, Luke Harper and Riddick Moss in his post and fans kept waiting for his immediate next move.
Shortly after, Orton struck a 5-year-deal with WWE, probably the last biggest contract of his illustrious career.
On After The Bell, the 13-time-World Champion cleared things up by simply revealing the motive behind his hot AEW tease.
“Yeah, I was just having fun. More-so now than ever I’m aware of other guys like Will Ospreay and other guys who worked with Cody and I’m watching more wrestling. I’m not in the WWE bubble as much as I’ve been for almost the last two decades and I’m learning to appreciate other styles a little more instead of just quickly seeing something that isn’t how I would do it or isn’t how I would sell it and I’m realizing in its own way it’s good.”
Orton further stated that leaving WWE was never an option for him. He’s happy with his current schedule and won’t give it up for anything.
“This might be upsetting for some people, but I never really saw myself leaving WWE. To me, it was about getting to the point where I’m happy and what I’m doing to my body and the amount of time that I’m gone from my family. In the end, it’s all gonna be worth it and that’s where I’m at right now so I’m definitely happy being a WWE Superstar.”
Per rumors, The Apex Predator could be in line for a World Title run in the next couple of years. Orton will represent Team RAW alongside Seth Rollins (captain), Ricochet, Kevin Owens and Drew McIntyre in the 5-on-5-on-5 matchup this Sunday at Survivor Series.
