Aleister Black underwent surgery at the beginning of August after it was revealed that he had picked up a groin injury at an NXT live event and his match at Takeover: Brooklyn was then considered to be up in the air.
A week later, Black was attacked in the parking lot following NXT and the match was then changed to a Last Man Standing Match between Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano so that Black could continue to work on his recovery.
The NXT Universe has been trying to work out who could have attacked the former Champion in recent weeks, since WWE managed to set up an interesting scene at Full Sail that has included a number of stars who had the motive to attack Black, but the one thing that WWE never revealed when Black was first sidelined, was the extent of his injuries.
There is a delicate reason why WWE didn’t make Black’s full injury news public because he required testicular surgery after he was crouched in the corner whilst he was on the turnbuckle.
Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer revealed that this is the reason why Black has been off WWE TV over the past few weeks but his recovery seems to be going smoothly since the Master of The Black Mass updated the following Instagram post showing that he is back to squatting 335 pounds.
Black still has a contractual rematch for his Championship and since Gargano vs Ciampa is now considered to be over, it will be interesting to see if Aleister Black is brought back into the mix to challenge Ciampa or if WWE decides to allow the former NXT Champion to head straight to the main roster.
