<p><strong>Bayley</strong> will be defending her SmackDown Women&#8217;s Championship against <strong>Alexa Bliss </strong>and <strong>Nikki Cross </strong>in a 2-on-1 Handicap match this Sunday at Extreme Rules.</p>



<p>A few weeks ago on SmackDown Live, Cross defeated Bayley in a non-title match to earn a title shot for her friend Alexa.</p>



<p>While fans were under the assumption that the title match at Extreme Rules would be a typical singles showdown, WWE swerved us all and changed the complexion of the match through genius booking on the latest edition of Monday Night RAW.</p>

<p>Dave Meltzer discussed the matter on <a href="http://f4wonline.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label=" (opens in a new tab)">Wrestling Observer Radio</a> to reveal the reason behind WWE making the SmackDown Women&#8217;s Title defense a Handicap match at Extreme Rules.</p>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow"><p>“The handicap match was a late change and everything that happened this Tuesday without <strong>Alexa Bliss</strong> was because of her sinus infection and they re-wrote that whole storyline so they may have done an Alexa Bliss/<strong>Bayley</strong> beat the clock challenge, but the reason that made no sense was because the end result was because of Alexa Bliss’ condition they are going to do a handicap match to protect Alexa. So in doing that they had to come up with a reason and they had this beat the clock thing. So you know <strong>Nikki Cross</strong> had to win. Then even though Nikki Cross is a babyface she had to ask for the handicap match.” </p></blockquote>

<p>Bliss is legitimately sick which is why WWE decided to make the last-minute change to the title match on Sunday.</p>

<p>If Nikki spends most of the match wrestling Bayley, then it would be a clear indication that The Goddess hasn&#8217;t fully recovered yet.</p>
