Former WWE superstar Shad Gaspard went missing after a giant wave hit him in California on Sunday. His 10-year-old son was rescued by the lifesavers, but he was nowhere to be found.
On Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez reported that he received a message from his friend who was at the Venice Beach. The piece of text stated that the rescue team was packing up and the search for Gaspard was over.
Previously, it was reported that the rescue workers would be searching on land in case the 39-year-old athlete had survived the ordeal. The LA Fire Department believes that Gaspard ‘submerged’ into the water. The fact that Gaspard’s body hasn’t been recovered yet doesn’t give much hope given the rescue operation has also been called off.
WWE aired a taped episode of RAW last night and much to everyone’s dismay, they didn’t include any mention of Gaspard.
The Observer reports that WWE didn’t want to include an “in memorial” slide because Gaspard is still missing. The rescue team may have given up but it’s still too early to come to a decisive conclusion. Fans believe WWE may include the “in memorial” feature on NXT or SmackDown this week if Gaspard is declared dead.
Gaspard broke out into the WWE scene through Tough Enough and OVW (2002- 2006). The same year he debuted on RAW as part of Cryme Tyme along with JTG before leaving the company in 2007. Gaspard returned to WWE in 2008 and wrestled for another two years before leaving for the indies in 2010.
Gaspard has been actively working in Hollywood since 2012 and has eight movies under his belt. He worked as a stuntman for “Sandy Wexley” and “Birds Of Prey”. Besides wrestling and acting, Gaspard has also rendered his services in the modeling industry and starred in two video games (Batman: The Enemy Within, and God Of War).
