Rey Mysterio took on Andrade “Cien” Almas on SmackDown Live last night in a match that has been praised by many critics. Mysterio lost to the up and coming talent but the two men still put on a fantastic show.
Interestingly, WWE has already changed up Andrade “Cien” Almas’ name since he is now known as just Andrade, following in the footsteps of the likes of Rusev, Big E, Elias and Neville who all shortened their names when they were promoted to the main roster.
Despite the name change, Almas is already making headlines and last night’s match with Mysterio seemingly impressed the WWE legend who took to Social Media to state that this was just the beginning and that his “friend” had likened the match to ones that had been seen between Mysterio and the late great Eddie Guerrero.
This is a huge compliment from Rey Mysterio to Almas who has been making headlines ever since his five-star match against Johnny Gargano in Philadelphia. Mysterio obviously has a lot of pull in WWE since he is seen as a legend and now that Almas has a 2-1 advantage over The Master of The 619 he will be looking for another chance to set the record straight.
SmackDown Live is said to be the land of opportunity and Andrade “Cien” Almas has definitely taken this in his stride over the past few months ever since he was called up from NXT.
WWE rightly see him as the future of the company and being likened to a superstar of Eddie Guerrero’s caliber will continue to push him forward into a fantastic place on the card ahead of WrestleMania.
