Rey Mysterio made a shock appearance at the 2018 Royal Rumble back in January, an appearance that despite the arrival of Ronda Rousey, still managed to steal the show.
WWE obviously wanted to jump onto the hype that the former World Champion created, but over the past few months, they have struggled to get Mysterio to sign on the dotted line.
The Master of the 619 has had a number of issues with what WWE was offering him since he was only open to a part-time contract, which is why there has been such a delay when it comes to his signing.
Mysterio is still scheduled to be part of All In on September 1st, but it’s been reported by Northeast Wrestling that WWE has forced Mysterio to drop out of their show on August 24th because of a scheduling conflict.
SummerSlam happens on August 19th so it is thought that Mysterio could be heading over to Brooklyn to be part of the show since this could be the only reason why he would be unable to fulfill his commitments with Northeast Wrestling next week.
Mysterio himself stated a few weeks ago that his future with WWE was still “up in the air” but this could have changed recently if the company has finally approved all of his contractual requests.
Mysterio had a fantastic career with WWE before his drawn-out departure from the company back in 2015, since then the former World Champion has continued to make a name for himself on the Independent Circuit and in places like Lucha Underground and AAA.
It appears that his Independent work turned a number of heads since WWE recalled him for The Royal Rumble and have been trying to re-sign him ever since.
