Rey Mysterio is still considered to be one of the most popular wrestlers in the business, which could be why his return to WWE back at The Royal Rumble in January overshadowed the entire show.
Ever since his incredible return, there has been talk of Mysterio re-signing with the company, but as of yet, this hasn’t happened. It has been seven months since Mysterio appeared as part of the annual Rumble event, but he is currently no closer to returning to WWE as a contracted superstar.
Mysterio is still currently set to be part of Cody Rhodes’ ‘All In’ show on September 1st, whilst he continues to negotiate his future with WWE, but ‘The Master of The 619’ recently revealed in an interview with The Miami Herald, that his future is still up in the air.
“We started off with the Royal Rumble at the beginning of the year in January,” He said via WrestlingNews.co “There was another offer on the table to do the Greatest Royal Rumble, and in between those two events, we’ve been going back and forth in conversations, trying to work out the right deal. It’s still up in the air. Nothing [is] secure, yet.”
It was reported that the former World Champion was open to a WWE return, but he was hoping for a more part-time contract that the company were offering, which is why negotiations have taken so long.
Mysterio is someone who could easily slot into whatever storyline the company wants him to, but right now the two sides are struggling to come to an agreement.
