Rey Mysterio is enjoying his second reign as United States Champion since his return to WWE last year; the 45-year-old Superstar hasn’t missed a step and looks more polished every time he steps foot in the ring.

With The Road To WrestleMania kicking off next month, it’s worth speculating what plans WWE may possibly have in store for Mr. 619 at the Show Of Shows in 2020.

During a recent interview with Sportskeeda, Mysterio revealed that he would “love” to wrestle AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36.

“The roster is filled with top talent but I really think that the match we had leading into me becoming United States Champion against AJ Styles – I would love to do that on a big stage. AJ vs Rey Mysterio.”

Rey further discussed his retirement plans and it doesn’t seem like he is going to hang up his mask anytime soon.

“It’s really hard to say right now because I feel so motivated and so driven by the sport. I could change my mind a week from now or a year from now – but, as of right now, I really feel like I’m picking up a second wind.”

“To have my son follow in my footsteps, which wasn’t in the plan three years ago, I think that, as well as the fans being the way they are, being so appreciative of the time I’ve put into this business, it makes me want to keep going.”

What’s interesting is that Mr. 619 also dropped the potential hint of his son, Dominic making his WWE debut next year. As previously reported, Dominic could be debuting as an entrant in the 30-Man Royal Rumble match at the pay-per-view.

“I hope that we can all get the chance to see him in 2020, and I’m just as excited as the fans to see him step into the ring…I definitely would love to potentially share the ring with him one day. I think, after that happens, I can retire peacefully.”

Per rumors, there’s a high possibility of Mysterio hanging up his boots at WrestleMania 37 in a match that would see Dominic retiring his legendary father.
