Rey Mysterio has charted out an iconic career in wrestling and became a household name with his distinct look and masked avatar.
However, Rey’s soon Dominik has stepped into the professional wrestling world without a mask on, and his father discussed this on the recent episode of Not About Wrestling podcast.
Mysterio said that he wants Dominik to don the mask in the future and continue his legacy. He felt that Dominik had already appeared in WWE during Rey’s tussles with Brock Lesnar and Samoa Joe, which made the decision of putting a mask on Dominik a bit tough.
However, Rey feels that they could have multiple personas for Dominik, one with the mask and one without the mask on in the future.
“Yes, as a matter of fact there was. The only issue was that he was getting so much promotion without the mask, prior to him starting to wrestle. When I did my storyline with Samoa Joe with Brock and we just felt maybe it might be a little too late to mask him now. We’ve talked about it. We would love to incorporate the mask somehow someway, so the legacy continues. Even if they know his face already. We can start a trend where Dominick is outside the ring and Dominick Mysterio is inside the ring.”
Dominik had a stellar start to his in-ring career in the Summer of 2020, but it has faded away in recent months. It will be interesting to see if WWE decides to go ahead with Rey’s idea and bring two different characters into the picture
