Rhea Ripley Wants Match With WWE Hall Of Famer Beth Phoenix, Update On NXT Takeover: New York Card

Rhea Ripley Calls Out Beth Phoenix

Rhea Ripley has been creating waves down in NXT UK over the past few months and was even able to introduce the main roster to her unique style when she was part of the Women’s Royal Rumble match back in January.

That being said, Ripley has seemingly set her sights on a much bigger task in the future as she looks to take on WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix. The former NXT Women’s Champion sent the following Tweet to Phoenix which shows that she is more than up for the fight.

Beth Phoenix is currently looking to fight for the Women’s Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania, but after the match, it is unknown what the former Women’s Champion’s WWE status is or if she’s prepared to answer Ripley’s challenge.

NXT Takeover: New York Card All But Finalized?

Two nights before WrestleMania, NXT will Takeover New York as the company presents possibly the most stacked event in the history of the developmental roster.

WALTER vs Pete Dunne was made official as part of the most recent episode of NXT UK, this means that Dunne will be defending the Championship against perhaps his toughest opponent and one that many believe he won’t be able to defeat.

Unless there are some late additions to the card, Takeover looks as though it could be finalized with a card of five matches, which include Shayna Baszler defending her NXT Women’s Championship in a fatal four-way match against Io Shirai, Kairi Sane and Bianca Belair and Matt Riddle stepping up to Velveteen Dream for the North American Championship.

Johnny Gargano will take on Adam Cole in a 2 Out Of 3 Falls match for the vacant NXT Championship while War Raiders defend the NXT Tag Team Championships against Ricochet and Aleister Black and Pete Dunne takes on WALTER.

WWE made the executive decision late last year to move Takeover back to the Friday before WrestleMania, which means that the show will now take place on April 5th.
