Stomping Grounds only saw two Championships change hands as Drew Gulak became Cruiserweight Champion on the kickoff show before Ricochet was able to overcome the threat of The Samoan Submission Machine to become United States Champion.

Ricochet walked out of Washington with his first main roster Championship and judging by the reception he received backstage last night, the Raw roster is happy with their new Champion but this win came at a price.

The One and Only updated his status on Twitter to state that he woke up this morning with a sore neck and back but it was worth it because he’s the United States Champion.

Ricochet has been working hard on the Independent Circuit and in NXT over the past few years in order to make it to the main roster and now he’s finally proved himself in WWE by becoming a Champion.

This update proves that WWE superstars are only human since Ricochet does some impressive things in the ring but much of the time he is forced to pay the price when his high-risk moves fail to land.

The former NXT star has been very active on Social Media today and even responded to a fan that asked if he could hold onto the title until Rey Mysterio returned so that they could then face off, something that Ricochet was open to.

Tonight as part of Monday Night Raw, Ricochet will have to shake off the aches and pains to put on a fantastic show as he steps up to the challenge of the returning AJ Styles. The Phenomenal One will be looking to re-enter the Universal Championship picture ahead of SummerSlam and defeating the new United States Champion tonight on Raw would be a great way to get back in Seth Rollins’ radar.
