Impact Wrestling has signed Rohit Raju, the current X-Division Champion, to a multi-year deal.
Raju, who debuted in Impact in 2017, won the X-Division Championship in August this year during the Emergence event. He successfully retained the championship at the Bound For Glory pay-per-view in a Six-Way Scramble match for the X-Division Championship.
Raju was able to retain his championship against Chris Bey, Jordynee Grace, TJP, Trey Miguel, and Willie Mack.
The news of Raju’s new contract with Impact was broken by PRInsider.com who spoke to the champion on the morning of the pay-per-view.
According to Raju, he signed the contract because he felt that he was now in a good position with Impact and saw an opportunity to do even more with the company.
“The main thing for me is that I just finally started to break ground at Impact. I know I was really the low man on the totem pole for years, nothing seemed like it was going to be happening for me and finally the ball came into my court and I decided to run with it, and I think it’s been pretty good so far,” he said.
“I feel like I’m very entertaining as X Division Champion and I can get under people’s skin, which is fantastic in my book. So I’m finally starting to build my brand and I want to continue to build my brand in a place where I have been very comfortable wrestling,” he added.
No details have been released as to how many years Raju’s deal is for, but seeing as he retained his title, looks like he will indeed have more opportunities to build his brand on Impact.
