Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson helped his cousin Roman Reigns win the Royal Rumble in 2015, thus leading fans to endlessly speculate about a potential WrestleMania showdown between them ever since.
While WWE is yet to make the dream match happen, The Great One and The Big Dog have expressed their desire to wrestle each other time and again.
During a recent interview with TV Insider, Reigns stated that his match against The Rock should be, first and foremost, a booking that fans want to see.
“It would have to be something the fans are just overwhelming about. They have to make it very clear this is the match-up they want. Then we have to take into account our family and the way that affects us and the way we’d tell our story.”
The former Universal Champion wants the WWE Universe to be clear about their intentions. After all, sometimes fans yearn for a dream matchup but quickly lose their interest just before it’s going to happen.
While Roman Reigns vs The Rock is definitely a mega box-office once-in-a-lifetime booking, it’s actually a long way before WWE actually decides to put things in motion.
“Right now, I just enjoy being around him. Being in the ring with him, we’d have to get to that point, and it would have to make sense for everyone. Right now, we’re representing our family and the love and the bond we have throughout our cousins and this family tree, I think we have to hold that up as high as possible.”
Fans should expect The Usos to get involved in the storyline if The Great One indeed faces The Big Dog at WrestleMania. The build-up would potentially revolve around their family heritage/bloodline, but setting up a typical babyface vs heel showdown is the biggest challenge in this dream feud.
