Roman Reigns made a shocking return last Sunday, attacking the new WWE Universal Champion, The Fiend, after his SummerSlam match with Braun Strowman.
Reigns, who returned to WWE TV after a long hiatus, continued to shock the WWE Universe by revealing that he has apparently aligned with Brock Lesnar’s long term manager and mouthpiece, Paul Heyman, during last Friday’s episode of SmackDown.
Reigns is set to challenge for the WWE Universal Championship on this Sunday’s Payback pay-per-view. He was on SmackDown to sign the contract for the match. Reigns will be part of a triple threat match for the championship with the Fiend and Braun Strowman.
Adding fuel to the fire that Reigns is now a “Heyman Guy” and a heel, Reigns himself retweeted Heyman who had tagged him in a video showing the both of them on SmackDown.
“Been waiting on this for a long time. Here we go!!” read Regin’s Twitter caption.
Reigns has been missing from WWE TV since opting to sit out WrestleMania 36 out of concerns for his and his family’s health due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Heyman hasn’t been seen on WWE TV for a while, neither has his client Lesnar, and the Beast’s Advocate was recently demoted from Raw head writer to talent.
