Roman Reigns is yet to punch his ticket to WrestleMania 36 but that doesn’t prevent him from entertaining the idea of his much-anticipated dream match with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at The Showcase Of Immortals.
WWE has officially announced Los Angeles as the host of next year’s WrestleMania; the grand March 28th event will feature a Hollywood theme and emanate from the SoFi Stadium in California.
During a recent WrestleMania 37 press conference, The Big Dog discussed the idea of wrestling his cousin, The Great One at WrestleMania 37.
“I said it earlier man, if there’s a stadium, hey DJ, check it out! Not bad, right? I mean, everyone’s always dream matching me and him. First of all, it’s family, so it’s love but, if there was going to be an event to compete in, to perform in, a venue to hold that mass scale of attention that he is going to bring, it’s right in your backyard, you know what I mean, you don’t have to go far.”
In October 2018, Reigns had to relinquish the Universal Championship to battle leukemia. After a 4-month medical hiatus, The Big Dog made his sensational in-ring return (in February) but WWE didn’t feature him in any title picture up until now.
Reigning Universal Champion, “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt will defend his title against Goldberg at Super ShowDown later this month and while the match could go both ways, Reigns is actually keen on facing the masked monster at WrestleMania 36.
“I mean, I just want my title, to be honest. Nobody took it from me. I had to relinquish it due to circumstances. I honestly just prefer my title. Honestly, from a completely honest standpoint, I would rather face The Fiend. He’s busted his a** all year long for it. No offense to Goldberg, I think he’s a great performer, a great Superstar, but I’m into the future right now and helping out the guys who are gonna be in the locker room with me.”
For what it’s worth, Reigns is the obvious favorite to win the Men’s Elimination Chamber match next month and dethrone The Fiend at the Show Of Shows on April 5th.
