The Baddest Woman On The Planet doesn’t need to carry a title in WWE.
Ronda Rousey is one of a kind and sports a bold personality both on and off camera. She won the RAW Women’s Championship at SummerSlam but according to Rousey, that wasn’t her initial intention.
On PWI Podcast, the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion compared herself to her hero and WWE legend “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and said that she doesn’t need a championship belt in the company just like the Hall of Famer.
“Honestly I was extremely surprised because I was reserved to thinking, ‘Like, I would like to never win the title. Like, I don’t need it. I don’t need it, Rowdy Roddy Piper didn’t need it.’ You know, I was totally cool with it but yeah, a lot of these decisions are not up to me and if the company thinks that I am used I am used in my best capacity as their champion right now then I will do that job as great as I can do as long as they need me to do it.”
The reigning RAW Women’s Champion also revealed that she would be a WWE Superstar for free and even admitted of having said that to CEO Vince McMahon during their first meeting.
Although her agent had requested her not to disclose her “work for free” intentions, Rousey didn’t listen and ended up saying that to McMahon describing the same as “Truthful Tourette’s.”
It’s true that Ronda doesn’t need a WWE title since she is one of the most popular global athletes given her stellar UFC history.
She also enjoys huge mainstream pop culture spotlight owing to her enormous fanbase and WWE definitely wants to capitalize on this opportunity having put the RAW Women’s Championship around the Golden Girl’s waist as it would help “promote” the company in various media and public appearances.
