WWE’s very own reality show featuring their top female superstars, Total Divas, makes a return to television starting October. The first season of the show premiered in 2013, and it followed the lives of the female superstars with behind-the-scenes footage.
The show will return for its ninth season this year and has gone through major cast changes. Ronda Rousey and Sonya Deville will join this season as series regulars, while The Bella Twins, Nia Jax, Carmella, Naomi, and Natalya reprise their roles from previous seasons.
Paige and Lana were regulars in the previous season, but it looks like they have left the show starting this season. Former UFC Champion and WWE RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey will be the headliner this time, and she will definitely be a huge addition to the long-running show.
SmackDown Superstar Sonya Deville will also be making her debut in this season, and it will be quite interesting to follow the life of Deville, who is the only openly homosexual superstar in WWE currently.
Total Divas will return in its Wednesday’s slot and will air at 10e/7p on E! channel. It is interesting to note that WWE is bringing back the show on the same day as AEW’s debut on TNT. Total Divas will air right after NXT and the untitled AEW show air on USA and TNT respectively.
Rousey had a year-long run in WWE, which resulted in her main-eventing WrestleMania alongside Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. Rousey suffered her first pinfall loss in WWE at WrestleMania and took a hiatus for personal reasons.
Rousey’s addition will definitely help the show garner more viewers with the female audiences, and her popularity will help the show reach out to the non-WWE fans as well.
Total Divas averaged around 400k viewers per week in its last season, and the numbers will receive a significant boost with The Baddest Woman on the Planet joining the cast.
