One of WrestleMania 35’s biggest selling points was the fact that the women of WWE could have had the opportunity to main event the show for the first time in its lengthy history.
WWE has been building towards a match between Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey ever since the former UFC Champion made her debut back in January and have kept both the women apart on separate brands so that the match is still feasible.
Charlotte’s feud with Becky Lynch could have affected the former Women’s Champion when it comes to the way she is viewed by the WWE Universe, which means that Lynch could be the one who steps into that slot instead.
According to The Wrestling Observer, WWE believes that the feud between Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair has hurt the former Women’s Champion so much that WWE is now questioning whether or not she should be part of the WrestleMania main event.
There aren’t many other women who could fill the void at WrestleMania right now since Asuka has been pushed down the ranks on SmackDown Live over the past few months and Rousey has already defeated all of the women who have crossed her path on Raw, which means that aside from putting the former UFC Champion up against a returning legend, there aren’t many options for Rousey at present.
Charlotte and Becky Lynch will continue their feud at Evolution next weekend over the SmackDown Women’s Championship but realistically, WWE still has enough time to mold Charlotte into the character that they need her to be in order for her to go up against Rousey, the only issue is that both women are currently face.
