<p>The pre-show ahead of WWE&#8217;s Royal Rumble pay-per-view saw the company put on two stellar matches that definitely set the bar for what could be a fantastic night of action. <strong>Sheamus </strong>stepped up to a fight with <strong>Shorty G</strong> after the former World Champion returned to SmackDown a few weeks ago and decided to send a message to the roster via the King of the Ring finalist.</p>



<p>This was obviously a filler match as part of the first WWE pay-per-view of 2020 but it allowed Sheamus to pick up a confidence-boosting win on his return to the ring since The Irish star hasn&#8217;t wrestled since there were reports that he could be forced to retire from the ring because of a back injury.</p>



<p>Sheamus and Shorty G opened the show, but it was the Irish star who walked out victorious when he hit The Brogue Kick.</p>

<p><strong>Andrade </strong>defended his United States Championship against <strong>Humberto Carrillo</strong> in a match that was also relegated to the kick-off show and saw both men leave it all in the ring after Carrillo attacked Andrade this past week on RAW.</p>



<p>Interestingly, it was Andrade who was able to come out on top when he rolled Carrillo up and seemingly stole one to continue what is set to be an interesting feud between the two men heading into WrestleMania season over the next few months.</p>



<p>Andrade and Carrillo showed that they can put on a fantastic show when given the chance but it begs the question as to why these two men had their match relegated to the kick-off show in the first place. The United States Championship has become RAW&#8217;s main title since <strong>Brock Lesnar</strong> hasn&#8217;t been available to defend his title since he moved over to the brand a few months ago.</p>
