On April 27, 2018, The Undertaker defeated Rusev in a Casket Match at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. As many fans would probably remember, that match almost did not happen. On the latest episode of WWE Ride Along on the WWE Network, Rusev revealed the real reason why he was pulled from the match and how he was put back in just a few days later after WWE announced that Chris Jericho would be replacing him.

“Remember when Vince saw me – I’m gonna face The Undertaker and I laughed at him?”

Aiden English remarked, “you just laughed in the chairman’s face [for] one of the biggest matches of your career.”

Rusev continued, “And what I get for it? I got pulled out. And then the Prince called. ‘you told me Rusev Day is coming to town baby.’”

As The Bulgarian Brute was explaining this, Rusev’s “Bury me softly, Brother” tweet was shown that everyone assumed was the actual reason why he was initially pulled from the match.

Rusev’s story matches up with what Chris Jericho told earlier. On his podcast, Jericho said that Rusev was initially pulled but then put back in the match because the Prince Of Saudi Arabia called. Once Rusev was added back to the match with The Phenom, the decision to move Jericho to the 50-Man Greatest Royal Rumble match was made.
