Rusev Reveals WWE Fired Him Via Text Message, Zack Ryder and No Way Jose Comment

Rusev was released from WWE along with a number of popular faces last month and was easily considered to be one of the biggest shocks. The Bulgarian Brute was part of a feud with Lana and Bobby Lashley on WWE TV before he went on hiatus and it was revealed that he was dragging his feet over a new contract.

His wife Lana signed a new five year deal with the company, but Rusev had reservations about re-signing which could be why the company decided to cut their losses. The former United States Champion hasn’t hinted about his future since his WWE departure but has been active on social media in recent weeks.

Rusev was asked by a fan earlier today on Twitter about how he was fired and since the former WWE star now has nothing to lose by revealing the truth, he stated that it was via text message. Surprisingly, former WWE stars Zack Ryder and No Way Jose then replied to the post to reveal that they were fired in the same way.

Rusev stated that he received a text message that told him to call the office which was when he was confirmed as another one of the stars who had been released due to budget cuts.

There were reports that WWE was looking to release any stars who were asking for their release and that is why the likes of Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, Maria and Mike Kanellis, and even Rusev were on their list. Ryder has been linked to a move over to All Elite Wrestling since his release, while Rusev hasn’t hinted that he will be heading to any other company since his departure. Rusev hasn’t hinted at retirement either, so he is expected to continue to wrestle on the circuit.
