The Fastlane go-home edition of SmackDown Live witnessed a couple of twists in the tale.

Jinder and Orton’s match looked quite promising and the final bell rang with Mahal cementing his chances for a shot at the US Title.  The former WWE Champion, Mahal who has appeared to be a strong contender for the US Title earned the victory over Orton after the 13-time World Champion was distracted by the current US Champion, Bobby Roode. However, it was Randy who got Roode involved in the match after he launched Mahal into the US Champion who was present as a guest commentator at the ringside.  According to WrestlingNewsWorld, chances are that the US Title Match might become a Triple Threat Match featuring Bobby Roode(c), Randy Orton and Jinder Mahal.

The Fatal 5 Way Main Event featuring the reigning WWE Champion, AJ Styles, Dolph Ziggler, Baron Corbin, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn might have set the foundations of a strong Wrestlemania storyline as per WrestlingInc. In the first hour of the show, a segment between best friends, Owens and Zayn witnessed Sami once again promising to lay down for Owens if the Six-Pack Challenge at Fastlane featuring AJ Styles(c), John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, Baron Corbin, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn comes down to the two of them. However, the Main Event match-up came to a close with Zayn pinning Owens for the victory. After the match, Sami cut a promo declaring that tonight was not about the WWE Title, it was about showing everyone that he is the best.  The WWE Universe is keen to see how Sami and Owens play out at Fastlane since rumours of Owens vs. Zayn at Wrestlemaina 34 has been doing rounds for a long time.

Noteworthy mention: Previous year, it was around this time that Owens had turned on his then-best friend Chris Jericho. The heated feud between the duo climaxed at Wrestlemania 33 with Owens clinching the victory over Jericho to earn the WWE United States Title.
