4-time RAW Women’s Champion Sasha Banks was recently interviewed by Peter Rosenburg on Complex’s Open Late. Banks discussed reigning RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey’s move to professional wrestling and her initial feelings on “Rowdy” landing in WWE.
Rousey created history at this year’s SummerSlam by becoming the first woman on this planet to have held both a WWE and an UFC title. The former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion defeated Alexa Bliss at The Biggest Party of the Summer to capture her first championship gold in WWE.
At the beginning, Banks felt that signing someone like Rousey would result in a distraction for WWE. However, her opinion has changed ever since Rousey made her first WWE appearance at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view in January.
The Boss now praises Rousey for her work ethic and her relentless desire to improve, and also claims that she is ready to go 1-on-1 with “The Rowdy One”.
“I’m ready for her,” Banks said. “Especially knowing her now I would be more than happy to have a match with her. I think she’s awesome I think we could make magic together and I have don’t have anything bad to say about her.
“When I first found out that she was going to come [to WWE] I was like ‘ugh we don’t need that taking away from what we’re doing but she helps so much she works so hard. She always wants to learn and she loves it and respects it, and you know, I appreciate that. She works very hard.”
It appears that Banks is in awe of the current RAW Women’s Champion. With The Boss now enjoying an alliance with her best friend Bayley, it would be a treat to see how a potential feud between Rousey and Banks goes down since the WWE Universe loves to see the former UFC star getting involved in the numbers’ game.
