The semifinals for the Japan side of the AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament have been set.
The first-round matches of the Japan bracket of the AEW Women’s Eliminator Tournament were aired on YouTube on Monday evening.
Four women, Yuka Sakazaki, Emi Sakura, Ryo Mizunami, and Aja Kong successfully defeated their opponents to advance in the tournament.
AEW has officially announced the following semifinal matches:
- Yuka Sakazaki vs. Emi Sakura
- Ryo Mizunami vs. Aja Kong
The winners of these matchups will square off against each other, with the winner of that match traveling to the US to challenge the final winner of the American bracket.
No official air date for these matches has been revealed, though reports state that the matches were already taped ahead of time.
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, the winner of the tournament will be getting her match against the current AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida at AEW Revolution on March 7.
Given that timeline, it is more than likely that the finals of the tournament will occur on the March 3 episode of Dynamite which is the last show before Revolution.
