Seth Rollins pulled off the impossible when he slayed Brock Lesnar for the second time in a row to recapture the prestigious WWE Universal Championship last night at SummerSlam.
Both men showcased a highly physical performance in the main event of SummerSlam. With neither Superstar backing down or refusing to give up, it was a hard fought battle and a worthy victory for The Beastslayer.
Rollins decimated The Beast with two devastating Curb Stomps to get the job done in the end.
The big red belt was the only title that changed hands last night in Canada.
At WrestleMania 35, Rollins defeated Lesnar to win the Universal Championship for the first time in his career.
Shortly after, The Beast returned at Money In The Bank to win the briefcase, thus making a statement – he’s back for vengeance! And at Extreme Rules, Lesnar cashed in his MITB contract against titleholder Rollins to be crowned champion for a record third time.
It’s been a rollercoaster feud with constant shift in momentum. However, since losing the gold to Brock in July, Seth was pushed as the undisputed underdog who seemingly didn’t stand a chance against the mighty Conqueror.
While the WWE Universe is satisfied with the booking and outcome, the fact that Rollins isn’t quite over as a babyface can’t be ruled out. The Beastslayer is a fighting champion for sure, but his recent feud with Lesnar has turned him into a whimpy kid instead of the bigger badass dude that he should be.
Roman Reigns, “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt, Kevin Owens are the hottest Superstars at the moment and Rollins (arguably) doesn’t hold a candle to them even with the title around his waist.
WWE made a point last night – Seth is their man going forward but it won’t be long before the Universal Title changes hands once again although it’s safe to assume that The Beastslayer is in for a lengthy title reign.
And that leaves us with million-dollar question: What’s next for Brock Lesnar?
