Seth Rollins is a former World Champion in his own right but he’s had one of the best years of his career over the past 12 months. Rollins lost the Intercontinental Championship to Dean Ambrose back at TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs which ended off the year for The Architect, but it appears that 2019 could be about to get so much better.
Many of the WWE Universe believe that Seth Rollins dropped his Championship to Ambrose because there is now a plan in place which could see Rollins pick up the win as part of the Royal Rumble match and then go on to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania.
There are a number of interesting rumors that are usually kicked around this time of year, but betting odds from Sky Bet now seem to back up this theory, since Rollins has become the favorite to go on to become the next Universal Champion.
Braun Strowman and Drew McIntyre round off the top three favorites who could dethrone the Universal Champion, but Rollins does look as though he’s the most likely.
Rollins and Lesnar have quite the history at WrestleMania since it was Rollins who was able to dethrone the World Champion back at WrestleMania 31 in a triple threat match that also included Roman Reigns.
Rollins and Lesnar went on to collide one-on-one at Battleground later that year, but when it looked as though The Beast could be closing in on the win, Undertaker popped up to interfere and step into a lengthy feud with Lesnar until after Rollins had already relinquished his Championship.
Betting odds are not always as water tight as many fans believe, but it’s interesting to see that Rollins is now the man being pushed forward in the absence of his stable-mate Roman Reigns.
