Seth Rollins Proud of “Eye-for-an-Eye” Match, Feels It Accomplished What It Should Have

Seth Rollins gave an interview with TalkSport’s Alex McCarthy where he talked about the eye-for-an-eye match with Rey Mysterio during the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.

The finish of the match, which Rollins won has received some mixed reviews and McCarthy asked Rollins what he though.

“I think we sort of accomplished what wrestling wants to accomplish and that is we told a very interesting story and there was some outside interest in the finish even though it was very weird – and that’s OK,” said Rollins.

He also addressed the reports that said that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was responsible for much of the layout of the match and that the finish would have been “different” if McMahon hadn’t interfered.

According to Rollins, while there were many different finishes proposed, McMahon had no part in crafting the actual match.

“Vince wasn’t as hands on as people think that he was,” said Rollins. “If I’m going to break the fourth wall here, so to speak, it was really 99.9% myself, Rey Mysterio, and Jamie Noble.”

“At the end of the day, it was a product that I was pretty proud of,” said Rollins who also noted that it was the first time he had gotten to spend an extended period of time with Rey Mysterio.
