Seth Rollins vs. Dominik Mysterio is Now a Street Fight

WWE announced on Saturday (August 18) that the match between Seth Rollins and Dominik Mysterio at SummerSlam will now be a Street Fight.

The SummerSlam match between Rollins and Dominik was made official during last week’s episode of Raw. The two signed a contract for the match during an in-ring segment for the match and Dominik also signed his WWE contract at the time.

The SummerSlam match with Rollins will be Dominik’s official in-ring debut. It is a continuation of a storyline that began between his father, Rey Mysterio, and Rollins which ended with the two participating in an “Eye-for-an-eye” match at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.

Since his father lost the match, being blinded at the hands of Rollins, Dominik has been clashing with both Rollins and Rollin’s disciple Murphy. The younger Mysterio has attacked the two older men with a kendo stick on several after-match segments.

The original stipulation of the match was that Dominik would be allowed to bring a kendo stick and use weapons. Now that it is a street fight, the implication is that both men can use weapons. Also, street fights are usually no disqualifications and falls count everywhere.
