Shane McMahon made his return to WWE TV on Tuesday night as part of the 1000th episode of SmackDown Live when he joined his sister and father as they enjoyed the dance break on Truth TV but according to PWInsider, this wasn’t just a random segment, this was a way to bring Shane O’Mac back to SmackDown after a few months away.
Paige has been working as the General Manager of SmackDown Live over the past few months in Shane’s absence, but he could now be returning to the brand just in time for Survivor Series.
Last year Shane was part of the SmackDown vs Raw Survivor Series match and it appears that he has been able to find a way to be part of the match once again this year.
Shane hasn’t been in the ring since WrestleMania when he teamed with Daniel Bryan against Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens in a winning effort but was reported to have been ill around that time and has been missing since Paige secured the job as GM.
According to PWInsider, Shane is expected to take up his Commissioner responsibilities on the brand moving forward but it is unknown if this means that he will be stepping back into the ring straight away or if he will be seen as the authority figure alongside Paige for a few weeks before he can pick up a feud.
If the feud between SmackDown and Raw kicks off ahead of Survivor Series once again, then it will be interesting to see if it’s Shane who steps up to Baron Corbin or Paige herself.
There are reports that Corbin and Kurt Angle could feud heading into Survivor Series instead, so it’s unknown what the future might hold for Shane McMahon as a wrestler.
